This post is not to scare but to inform of the importance of getting your gutters maintained regularly. Once a year should do it, depending on your surroundings. As you can see gutters play an important role in protecting your walls from the elements. In this case a blocked gutter and loose tile can cause the water to spill over the side. Causing thousands of litres each time it rains to sit on the outside wall. This can then penetrate the property causing damp.

Unfortunately in this case this lead to significant damage in the property.

Damp can lead to mould and mould can lead to damage of property and health.

So the problem in this case was that there was a loose tile blocking the gutter, so not only did the gutters need cleaning the tile needed to be reset as you can see in these images.

So our advice is to get your gutters checked regularly. Once a year should be fine and your window cleaner should be happy to run up the ladders and check to see if they need doing. You can always ask for photographs so that you can be sure that you’re getting the best service.
